Currently Adjunct Professor at the UCD Sutherland School of Law, her first book, My Fourth Time, We Drowned: Seeking Refuge on the World's Deadliest Migration Route, was published in 2022 and won the Orwell Prize for Political Writing that same year, as well as being shortlisted for the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction.
